Why women ask for this procedure
The common assumption is that the motivation is purely cosmetic. In our clinic, more than half of cases present with a functional complaint first:
- Discomfort or pain when walking long distances, cycling or exercising.
- Pain in fitted clothing or swimwear.
- Difficulty with daily hygiene and resulting recurrent irritation.
- Discomfort or pain during intimacy.
- Clear asymmetry causing persistent distress.
Size in itself is neither a condition nor a flaw — natural variation is wide. The only criterion is: does it bother you?
What makes a natural result
The difference between a good result and one that looks 'done' lies in two details: the edge contour, and how much was removed.
Our technique preserves the natural, slightly undulating edge instead of creating a straight, hard line. And the golden rule is that under-resection can be adjusted later, while over-resection cannot be undone — which is why we are deliberately conservative in measurement.
The day itself
- Reviewing measurements and taking before-photos kept in your file only.
- Sterilisation and local anaesthesia (no sedation, no general anaesthetic).
- The procedure: 45 to 75 minutes depending on what it includes.
- Closure with fine absorbable sutures that need no removal.
- A short rest at the clinic, then you walk out.
Recovery day by day
Days 1–2: swelling peaks. Cold compresses every two hours, rest, and simple analgesia. Do not be alarmed by the appearance at this stage.
Days 3–7: swelling recedes gradually. Light walking is comfortable, and a soft cushion helps when sitting.
Days 7–10: back to work and normal activity.
Weeks 4–6: exercise first, then intimacy once cleared.
Weeks 6–8: final shape once swelling fully resolves.
Practical advice: do not judge the result before week six. The appearance in the first fortnight does not represent the outcome at all.
Questions to ask before booking
- What technique is used, and does it preserve the natural edge contour?
- Is it done under local anaesthesia, or does it need sedation?
- What sutures are used, and do they need removing?
- How many follow-up reviews are included, and when?
- What happens if I need a small adjustment later?
A doctor confident in her work will answer all of these clearly and without irritation.
